Rotary Sportsmanship Breakfast 2024
New Phila vs. Dover Football Week Has Begun!
It began in 1905 and has been contested annually since then. The football rivalry between the New Philadelphia Quakers and Dover Tornadoes is the third oldest high school football rivalry in the State of Ohio. The week began Saturday, Oct. 19 with the Rotary Sportsmanship Breakfast at the Buckeye Career Center. Hosted by the Rotary Clubs from New Philadelphia and Dover, the event honors the senior students playing or performing in the upcoming contest...the last of their high school careers.
Speaking to the students, coaches, advisors and parents were the two coaches, Mike Johnson from New Philadelphia and Dan Ifft from Dover. Also taking turns were the Mayors and Rotary Club Presidents. The coaches, band directors and cheer/dance advisors all introduced their senior participants.
The week now unfolds with activities at both schools and communities, culminating at Quaker Stadium in New Philadelphia for the big game.
